Balthier goodness...mmmm
Okay - yesterdays' piccie went into the Dragon Heir forum, so here's the link: click for pic of Kalm! Slightly sad that I'm linking it, but the poor boy is lost in the black hole that is the DH forum. haha

You can tell I'm working hard when the wind-down pics are coming thick 'n' fast ^_^
This one is almost like a rework of my old Rosencrantz and Guildernstern pic. hehe...just a lot more- um - chinese. I was mainly wanting to experiment with solid blacks and hair strands.

I've seen this kind of thing with the hair so many times and have always wanted to capture it! This is the closest I've got so far ^_^

I think the way you do profiles is starting to really gel together too! Really really nice. Gah love looking at your inkwork. It inspires me to work on mine!

Hmm - were you aiming for that Antique Bakery pout, perchance? This is absolutely gorgeous - I love the hair strands and the delicate patterning on the clothes

Weirdly (and flatteringly) one of the manga scholars in Japan actually told me my style reminded her of Yoshinaga Fumi, and that was when I'd only just discovered she existed....I was bowled over and totally didn't see it myself. ![]()

Wow, this is really beautiful, Emma.
![]() The face is perfect, and I love the outfit! Nice use of inverse colour too. :'D Can I ask what you used to complete the pic? **curious** May I say one teensy thing? The hand is not as assured looking as the rest of the image. I think it looks a little flat, and the fingers are quite sharp and pointy. Sorry, it's a minor thing. Can't wait to see more! *3*b

![]() I used good old manga studio for this - like everything these days - it owns my soul! haha ^_^

Sebastian - thanks for commenting, but have a think before you post, hon....especially when it's in a specifically themed thread. Jokes are fine, but why post in a thread if you're not actually commenting on the subject itself?
And watch that super sized text. Save it for really special occasions, ne? ^_~

it was just a bloody joke! *looks hurt for a second* but all jokes aside, i love the artwork. the little invert trick is pretty cool, i never learned how to do that.

Nowt wrong with a joke, just add something on topic in with it as well - that's all ^_^
Thanks very much! I inverted this one the long way round, but selecting my lineart with the magic wand, filling with black/white as appropriate, and then pressing cntrl+shift+i to invert the selection and filling with the opposite colour. There are far easier ways, but this is one method.

Sebastian - if you write on a thread with something completely irrelevant to the topic, is is useless spam. it is also a bit hurtful for the person who posted some art, who may think "oh great, I got another comment!" only to be disappointed by a post that has NO relevance to their work. So please do not do it, even if you think "it is just a joke". You would feel the same way too!

ah - thanks hon! ^_^
Sketches often come about better because we can just relax and have fun with them. I sometimes wish my actual work could be as fluid as my sketches. ![]()

Emma...
delicious piece, works perfectly as an invert .As far as the hand goes... looks fine to me except the thumb tip might be a smidgin too thin... May have helped the weight of the hand a bit to drop the thumb-side edge of the the forearm guard/sleeve to the thumb joint and curve the fabric the other way as well - convex instead of concave... otherwise beautiful... ( ...but you don't really care for music do ya..... ahhh still trippin ) |

It's definitely one of my favourite wind-downs so far...I'm hoping to make a print of it ![]() Tonight's wind down is rather less well constructed. haha - it's another of those kooky sketch pages ![]()
