Default Telford Expo Art Competition

Alright people, what would an Expo be without a Sweatdrop Manga Competition ? Telford Expo is taking place on February 24th so you have ample time to come up with something amazing. Remember that being the first event of this sort, you may be up against fewer competitors than London Expo (what better reason to order some tickets and earn a chance at top prizes!)

-------
Sweatdrop studios are happy to confirm their attendance at the Telford MCM Expo.

Several of the group's members will be on hand at the event to offer advice, demonstrate techniques and of course attempt to force you to buy some of their own, home-grown manga comics and books. ^_~

They will of course also be presiding over the Expo Manga Alley. Come and bring out the creative genius within yourself and, if you're feeling adventurous, why not enter the manga art competition?

Sweatdrop are happy to say that their sponsors Letraset and E-frontier will be following them from London to Telford and will dish out some fantastic manga goodies to the lucky winners of the competition. (Detailed list in post below).

As with last October's London Expo, the categories for Telford are as follows:

16 and Over - Best Pre-Made Piece
16 and Over - Best Artist Alley Piece

Under 16 - Best Pre-Made Piece
Under 16 - Best Artist Alley Piece

Remember to bring a piece from home if you want to enter the pre-made categories. If however, you're wanting to create something at the event (which we hope you do!), then you will need to either use the manga alley paper provided, or just ask a member of Sweatdrop to stamp your own paper and you're ready to roll.

This has been introduced so that the poor judges can ensure that they know which pieces were created where.

NOTE: If an alley-made entry does NOT have the manga alley stamp/mark on it, we're afraid it will not be judged, so please be sure you use the pre-prepared paper or get your paper stamped!

Happy drawing! ^_^

-------------

Post any questions and queries in this thread. If you want an urgent reply, please look at this thread from last competition...many questions regarding rules, format, content and judging criteria have already been answered.

Hi there ^_^

This is the Expo's first time in Telford - so it will be good fun!

There will indeed be an art competition...as the thread shows ^_^
As for who to meet there....loads of awesome and fun people, as well as a few special guests. Chris Barrie among them! I used to LOVE red dwarf and Rimmer *grin*

Question

ok forgive me if this is answered somewhere already, or if it's a stupid question but...

Do the entries haveto be on A4 paper? Or indeed Paper at all? Could theybe on Canvas or another mixed media? and is it fanart or original creations you're looking for??

Just thought I'd throw in some spice!!

Em

Bearing in mind we don't guarantee the return of the artwork (and have no mechanism for returning artwork anyway ) I'd stick with A4 paper if I were you.

We do allow fanart, but it will lose you marks. Inventing characters is part of the challenge.

ah good! I wanted to do something original! But I guess I'll stick to paper! I'm having a canvas binge at the moment though and thought that might be cool! But I did see the impracticalities of it!

Right-oh! A4 it is then!! Thank you for clearing that up! ^^

Yes, although for obvious reasons you cannot enter both the under 16 and 16 and over categories.

I have another question. I completely forgot

I know it was recogmended as A4 sized

but can the image be A3 sized?

because I dont think what I wanna do would fit and if I could cram it all in, they'd be too small for it to look decent.
